Fes-Merzouga 3 days desert tour program 

 

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga

This private tour departure from Fes starts today. The first day of our trip links Fers to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi dunes. We take the road direction to Merzouga passing through Ifrane(the switzerland of Morocco). After that we cross the cedar forests in Azrou where we will make a stop to allow you to take pictures with a species of wild monkeys that live in this forest. 

Then we continue the path to reach the small berber village of Zaida and Midelt(the capital of apples in Morocco) where we will make a stop for lunch. After this break, we continue the way crossing the Ziz valley passing via Errachidia and Arfoud( The world capital of Fossils and fossilized marble) to arrive at Merzouga.

We will spend this night in a hotel in Merzouga.

Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Merzouga (the tour of the dunes)

During the second day of this 3 days tour Fes-Merzouga we will be devoted to enjoy the most spectacular part of the Eastern Sahara. We will cross the black desert by the 4 × 4 to visit nomadic villages to discover their way of living marked by simplicity and generosity. We will also visit oasis that have an irrigation system of Roman origin. Afterward, we will also visit the famous Gnawa village “Khamlia”.

The inhabitant of this village are originally from sub-Saharan countries especially Mali. We will enjoy their amazing folk music. We will stop for lunch with a local family. In the evening we will return to the hotel for a camel ride to access to the sahara desert camp to spend this night in a nomadic tent. On the path we wil enjoy the magical sunset from the heart of the desert. Dinner in the camp with a local music of Gnawa show around campfire.

Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Fez

We get up early the morning to enjoy the spectacular sunrise and a delicious breakfast. After that, camel ride back to the hotel in Merzouga. Then we take the raod back to Fes. We will pass through Rissani(the origine of the alaouite dynasty). This city is the first imperial city of Morocco and the economic center of the region. We will be able to admire its particular Souk(market) where the nomadic tribes of the desert come to get supplies.

Very curious to see if it’s a donkey parking lot. We will enjoy the panoramic views on the Erfoud road, after crossing the Tizi-n-Talghomt pass, we will arrive at Midelt where we will stop for lunch. Then, we will leave for the city of Fes through the cedar forests in Azrou and Ifrane. We will arrive at the cultural capital of Morocco at the end of the evening.
